Secretary Anybody???

Hi All,

Just completed the minutes from Fridays Management Committee Meeting and I am left wondering why I am still doing the Secretarial role despite stepping down at the AGM in October.

I took over the role following the resignation of the previous Secretary Tim Flavell. In his time at the club Tim has been Secretary/Chairman/Secretary and was an extremely committed individual and a very good club man to have, but he fell disillusioned with our members as the majority just wanted to turn up and play who weren't prepared to put the effort in to make the club a success. Yarm relies on volunteer support and the work was being left to a few hardcore individuals whose members never gave them the recognition that they deserved.

I stepped down as 1st team captain to do the Secretarial role as like now there was no one else willing to put their hand up to do it. But my passion is in captaining and I feel my first spell was cut short and I still have a lot to give in what is a fantastic challenge in trying to retain our Division One status every season.

So who will take over as Secretary, the Club structurally is in its best position in Years. Development Officer Gaz Jones has got everyone working hard on the Management Committee. The work load has been split up amongst various committees like Sponsorship, Development, Junior & Social. Things are moving on well within the Club, ClubMark accreditation is well underway and our pavilion development refurbishment is also progressing well. The foundations in the Junior Section are being strengthened to continue the great work done this season but to ensure the long term future of the Junior Section.

So what is the role of the Club Secretary, basically they are the Club Contact for the league and other various organisations and are responsible for distributing information amongst its members.

Who can take the role on? Well anybody really a current member, an existing member or even someone from outside the club. We have stripped the role back to its basic but depending on how involved the individual would like to be they are more than welcome to get involved in other areas of the club.

So if you or anyone else you know maybe interested in taking on the role then please get in touch.

Talk to you later.
